General FAQs

How do Cashback sites work?
Retailers want to get as much traffic flowing through their site as possible.  To help things they may display ads on other sites and pay the promoter a small amount of cash per click, or in some cases a set amount per month.  The whole idea is based around drawing attention to a retailer’s site by advertising, links and referrals.

Cashback sites provide you with a large list of cashback sites which you are able to both browse and search.  You then follow a link to the retailer, which is tracked by the cashback site so that if you make a purchase, a percentage of the cost is given back to you through the cashback site.   Most also offer a Daily Clicks section where they pay you up to 10p for performing a search on the likes of Kelkoo.  For more information on this, see our Beginners Guide to Daily Clicks.

The cashback site tracks every purchase you make through their site and puts any cashback you earn into a pot.  In most cases, you have to wait until your account on the cashback site reaches a certain level (usually around £20.00, although this does vary slightly) before it pays out.  Once this level is reached you can request a Cheque, payment by Paypal or receive Vouchers, depending on the site.

Where can you find these Cashback sites?
Visit our Site links section for a large list of retailers and our links to them.  Please note that the links on this section are our referral links, so if you do not wish to use this link, simply use a search engine to access the site.  Using our referral link will not make any difference to your registration on a cashback site whatsoever, it simply informs the cashback site that we referred you.

What should I be aware of?
Please, please, please stay safe on the Internet.  If you come across a site that is asking for you Bank details, ALWAYS check it out first.  Read reviews of the site, ensure you are using a https page when entering your bank details and not just a plain http page (check the address bar) and check to see if the site is registered under a site security company such as Verisign.

Why should I use Cashback sites?
Why not?  You have nothing to lose, and if you make regular purchases online you have the potential to make quite a bit of your money back.  It takes less than 30 seconds to log into you cashback site and search for a retailer, so our advice to you is always check to see if the retailer you are making your purchase from is listed on the cashback site.

What are Daily Clicks?
A lot of the cashback sites also offer things called Daily Clicks.  These are basically quick searches you can do from the cashback sites through the likes of Kelkoo, Dealtime (Shopping.com) and The High Street Web and get paid per search.

How much do the Daily Clicks pay out?
The amount you get paid per search varies from site to site but the three sites mentioned above pay between 4p and 10p per click.  The money you make from these daily clicks gets credited to your account on the cashback site along with any cashback earnings from buying online. One thing to take into account is that there is obviously a limit on the amount of clicks that you can do per site per day.  The cashback sites usually inform you of this as you are following the link from their site.

For example, let’s say you are logged into a cashback site and want to do a daily click through Kelkoo.  You need to search the cashback site for Kelkoo, which should then provide you with a link, a value for the click and the amount of clicks you can do per day.  After following the link to Kelkoo, search for anything and follow the resulting link to take you away from the cashback site, i.e. to your retailer’s site.  Once you can see that the page has fully loaded (it will say done in the Status bar in Internet Explorer), close the pages all the way back to your cashback site.  You have just earned 10p.

Something to keep in mind...
Another thing to bear in mind is that Cookies may prevent your daily clicks from being tracked and being added to your cashback account.  Cookies hold data for sites that you have visited on the web and include information such as usernames and passwords for sites you have logged in on and asked to remember the password, etc.  To give yourself a better chance of having all your daily clicks tracked, it is probably best to clear your cookies in between cashback sites.  This means that any information you already have in your cookies for your cashback sites or retailer’s sites, will be deleted and you will be logging into the site as a fresh.

You can clear your cookies by going to the Internet options menu in your browser or you could download our free tool which will do the job for you if you click to run it.  There are some tips for using this tool in the Tips section of the site.

Is it really worth it?
Daily clicks will take some time to build up as you will probably only earn between 25p and 50p per site per day tops.  However, let’s say you do daily clicks on multiple sites per day.  You could be earning in the region of £2.50 per day.  You may now be thinking, what’s the point in doing all this for £2.50 a day?  Well, let’s look at this from a slightly different angle.  You will be spending 15 to 30mins per day doing daily clicks.  Earn £2.50 a day for a month and your looking at £75.00.  This £75.00 will be spread across multiple cashback sites, so it will take you a few months to reach the payout threshold on each site.  You will find that you will get a spell where a few of your cashback sites reach the payment threshold around the same time.  Cash these in and you will now be receiving payments that amount into £100’s. Not bad for spending minutes each day doing this, especially if you’re online surfing anyway.
